Unique Chic Shopping Tips & Tricks

Before your next shopping trip, I want you to think about the last time you wore something that really looked good on you. I mean, this outfit fit perfectly and was just your style. You felt more confident and maybe even a little sexy.

When you go shopping, I want you to remember how that felt and remember that it is better to have a few items that make you look your best then a whole closet full of clothes that are only so-so. This is the time to find clothes that you LOVE.

  • Bring a true friend. Pick someone who will tell you when you look fabulous or if those jean make your butt look big.
  • Don't go shopping when you are feeling depressed, hungry or in a rush. You especially don't want to go shopping when you are feeling bloated.
  • Wear a comfortable outfit that is easy to take on and off. (Learn more about what you should wear when you go shopping here!)
  • Know what you are willing to splurge on and what items to save on. Jackets, blazers, dress pants are typically good investment pieces. Spend more on items that will last you a few years.
  • Shop the consignment shops, outlet malls, and discount stores first. They frequently have high-quality designer pieces for really good prices.
  • Just because it is cheap does not mean you should buy it and just because an item is expensive doesn’t mean you should buy it either. The price doesn't really matter if you never wear it.
  • Always try on EVERY item before you buy it. Which is more fun, trying on clothes or waiting in line to return them?
  • Don't forget to find out the stores return policy and save all your receipts just in case you don't like something when you get home.

Can't decide if you should buy something? Procrastinate!

  • Try it on and take a selfie in the dressing room.
  • Don't buy it today. Put it on-hold.
  • Look at your selfie the next day and make your final decision.

Want to save some money during your next shopping trip?

  • Just pay your regular bills first and then decide how much you can afford to spend.
  • Go to the bank and get your clothing budget in cash.
  • Leave your credit cards at home!
  • Go shopping and only spend the cash you have with you.

This gives you a realistic idea of how you can pay before you find those perfect shoes!

Shopping for clothes can either a treat or a chore. It really depends on a little preparation.
